Have you thought managing stress in your workplace lately? The workplace can be a relatively high stress environment even on a normal day. Stress management has long been a key part of every workplace but can often be forgotten. Covid has made this even worse with people working remotely and dealing with the challenges the pandemic has presented us with.
Your team is what makes your business run and reducing stress for them should be one of your top priorities.
Here are a few ways you can help your team de-stress.
Think Outside the Box
Think about what helps you relieve your stress and get creative. You could try an online membership for yoga and meditation, an allowance for things like massage and spa treatments or anything else that may come to mind. Managing stress doesn’t have to be expensive either….sometimes the most thoughtful gestures are the more appreciated ones.
Be Open
Be completely transparent about the daily running of the business. Employees are more at ease when they know what is happening and what new projects are coming down the line. This also adds to a sense of community and knowing that they are a trusted member of the business.
Time Off
Did you know that nearly eight out of 10 workers force themselves to work while sick? By encouraging employees to take care of their health you are reminding them that they matter, they are valued, and that at the end of the day, that you have their best interest at heart. Not to mention productivity and creativity are usually way down when you’re fighting sickness!
Delegation
Have an open conversation with employees regularly about how they are feeling about their current workload. Let them know that if they are having trouble with the current workload that you can look at ways to delegate some of those tasks to others or create new project timelines.
Just because stress seems unavoidable in the office doesn’t mean that it has to be. The right policies can go a long way in making your office a calmer, healthier, and more productive environment. Your team is important to smooth running of your business, so take care of them and they will give back to you what they get!
